Thanks kJ,

As you can see (I hope) I am now the proud (?!) owner of a new, but unwanted hotmail account.

If you're right about VM, I can't wait to get home to have a go at them - bastards.

Is it possible to automatically forward all of my hotmail posts to my VM account thereby simulating them coming direct as they used to?

Steve

Hello Steve,

The law of averages strikes again. I also have VM as one of my ISPs.

However I don't use their email to receive posts from this group - I have a Hotmail account which I use for that. Hotmail seems to have better recognition of group emails and I've never had a problem with it. It can also receive emails from my VM (actually BlueYonder) email as well.

How about signing up for an account with another provider, even if only temporarily, to see whether it's a problem on the Yahoo end or the VM end? If you fancy that, I'd suggest not using Gmail as (I think) they also power VM's email system now so probably wouldn't prove much.

Cheers

kJ

Woo hoo.............................I got a copy of my mail to the group.

What a bloody rigmarole though.  Good word that....rigmarole....should get more use than it does.

If I could remember what I wanted to comment about ca 2 weeks ago, I'd be really happy!

How to forward mail from a Hotmail account -

1. Go into your Hotmail account using Internet Explorer, and open the Inbox
page.
2. Click on "Options" in the top right corner of the page.
3. On the page that opens, in the "Managing Your Account" section click on
"Email Forwarding".
4. On the page that opens, click the "radio button" next to the option
'Forward your mail to another email account', then in the box beside it type
the full e-mail address of your normal e-mail account.
5. Click (i.e. select) the box marked "Keep a copy of forwarded messages in
your Windows Live Hotmail inbox" - as a precaution in case anything goes
wrong! You'll still be able to find the messages in your Hotmail account, as
it will keep a copy of them.
6. Click the button marked "Save".

You must sign in to your Hotmail account at least once every 270 days (9
months), otherwise your Hotmail account looks inactive and might be deleted.

Make *sure* you use a secure password for the Hotmail account (not an
obvious one such as "letmein"). My account was recently broken into on the
Hotmail server, because I had neglected this point. No damage was done in my
case, but the intruder sent an email to everyone in my Hotmail contacts
list - which was a bit embarrassing for me.
