Dear Miriam, I live in South Korea and this is what I do.

1 - I get the URL for the radio show I need. You can use a site like this one to find the URL:

http://beebotron.org/index3lite.php?reload

The Monday evening comedy URL is usually:

mms://wm.bbc.co.uk/wms/radio4fmcoyopa/radio_4_fm_-_monday_1830.wma

Actually you can usually use the same URL for different Radio 4 shows - just change the date and time. Here is an example of a few other BBC radio URLS:

mms://wm.bbc.co.uk/wms/bbc7coyopa/bbc7_-_monday_1800.wma
mms://wm.bbc.co.uk/wms/radio3coyopa/radio_3_-_monday_2315.wma
mms://wm.bbc.co.uk/wms/6musiccoyopa/6music_-_monday_0400.wma

2 - Find a downloader, post the URL (given above) and download the stream. The mms protocol is a little tricky. I have used:

VLC Player
HiDownload Platinum
Portable FlashGet v.1.9.4
SDP downloader

Before you try any of the above read the reviews - and then think about if you believe what some of the reviews say and how much you want the shows. The reason I say that is some people say "That software has spyware" "It is shareware but here is a free portable version" "it only downloads one stream at a time" etc.

What you will get is a wma file which you can then play or edit into another format using software like Format Factory (which is what I use).

If anybody else has any bright ideas for me please let me know. I am actually one of the few people who miss the old real audio files as they downloaded very quickly and I could edit them very easily. But so it goes.

I hope some of this may help.

Love as always, David
