Paul Merton talks to Nicholas Parsons about his memories of working as straight man to comedian Arthur Haynes.



In the 50s and 60s Haynes was one of the biggest names in entertainment who sadly died at the peak of his career and has since been largely forgotten.

With sketches written by Johnny Speight The Arthur Haynes Show was a must watch tv appointment for the whole family. Alongside the comedy the shows also featured a host of musical guests including one of the first tv performances by the Rolling Stones.

Nicholas Parsons shares his memories of Haynes with Paul Merton and together they rediscover the genius of a comedian who was once as famous as Tony Hancock.
