Topic: Bit of Mediafire help please

First of all I add my thanks to all the people who make files available through this group, and I also drift off to the JAMmer stream, often having dreams featuring jam guests as their voices permiate my thoughts! Yesterday I was trying to update my collection using Charles's very thorough sets on Mediafire but am having real problems trying to actually download anything. I click on the relevant file, then the "click here to start download" link, and nothing happens. Mediafire even assures me "your download is starting" but it doesn't. This is even for files uploaded very recently. Do I need to change something in IE? Is there a torrented version of these files anywhere? Thanks for any help everyone!

Mozilla Firefox browser never has any problems anywhere in the world I have used it. Google it, download and install it, is my advice. If you put  IE and MF shortcuts on your desktop then you will be able to use both together as you wish. To find the files on MF look under Tools and Downloads. Maybe your IE files are stored somewhere similar. On  my version of IE its under Favourites and then Downloads.

I advise stay away from the torrents as they can take a long time to download, they use a different show numbering system than we do in JAM yahoo groups and are not as well labelled in any case. And peer to peer systems  are associated with illegal file sharing. You would, in the end, come back to Mediafire to fill in the gaps and that would be so time consuming.

Thanks very much for that Dave. Some links still don't activate but I'm guessing maybe they don't anyway. It did help me on others though. I've already had encounters with most of the old torrented jams with the old numbers, I was just asking if these particular files were in a torrent somewhere. As I say, help much appreciated, cheers, Phil

I am planning on putting the collection up for grabs as torrent files
sometime in the near future, separated by decades.
I agree that it would be a handy option, also torrents are used for much
more than just illegal file sharing. Many companies, ASUS being one
large example, use the torrent technology to distribute driver and
software updates.

You may find the last few episodes you miss here:

Be warned that this server is my workstation and as such are
periodically turned off or have very limited spare bandwidth available
for the http server.

Thanks very much for directing me there Espen! I could get everything easily and am very happy to have both seals and garden worms in my collection... umm if you get my meaning. :) I'd also like to suggest that torrents (especially popular ones as a jam one could very well be), can get up to great speeds. And though they may be big files altogether, with the right client you just pick the files you wish to download.

uTorrent every time, small resource footprint, small executable file
does exactly what it says on the tin splendidly - just follow the setup guidelines to suit your computer and Internet connection
