Hello everyone,

I don't mean to address this post to any one person, so even though I've responded to Dave's post, I don't mean this as a direct response to him.

I'm not at all comfortable with this thread. Let me explain why.

First of all, I can't agree that ballots/raffles/random draws either increase one's chances of getting tickets or decrease them overall. For those who sit in front of computers all day and can respond as soon as an email comes out about tickets then their chances will be decreased by a random draw as compared to first-come, first served. However people like myself who have other things to do all day, a random draw would increase our chances as the early birds don't catch all the worms. Assuming that the random draw doesn't increase the number of applicants then, on average, your chances of getting a ticket should be the same and, probably, pretty low either way.

Secondly, I haven't read the terms and conditions for these tickets either as I'm not going to apply for them. But the T&Cs for the last set of electronic free BBC tickets that I got said they were non-transferable and had my name printed on them and a bar code. I'm not saying that you wouldn't get in with someone else's tickets and I have no idea what the ticket checking and security arrangements are at the BBC Theatre, but some degree of caution would seem sensible.

Thirdly, the T&Cs for the show I mentioned above said that anyone applying for tickets who the BBC believed to have acted fraudulently would have their applications cancelled. I'm not sure that submitting multiple applications would increase your chances of getting a ticket. In fact it may completely remove whatever small chance you had.

Fourthly, I'm not sure this is the "done thing" and I'm generally uncomfortable with the whole idea.

Of course I'm only offering my opinion and you may completely ignore what I'm saying.
