My 2p...

Make two versions, one with, one without.
I am sure there will be votes for each and there is virtually no extra effort to make an unedited version.
You can then let the downloaders decide which to take.

Gaps in programs annoy me but I think an obvious edit would be nearly as bad.
I would say it would be very difficult to make it inaudible unless you are a professional sound engineer.

Subject: [just-a-minute] Opinions please - urgently Just a minute 259 Getting Wound up with the 4 boys NOT Andree Melly earlier version

My cassette tape appears to be almost fine and we are ready to try and make an MP3, for uploading and downloading. There are a few seconds (maybe 10) of a KW speech missing, talking on the subject of Monk in an erudite manner, which must have been left in the car tape player after it ate the tape.

Thus, and I can make no promises either way, what do you think about us inserting the missing speech into the MP3? i.e. adding in our own voice, or an impression of KW, the missing words. We know exactly what they were from my transcript I made in 1978, and I listened to the tape enough times to recall how Kenneth spoke the words.

No doubt the transcript will be added to Dean's archive in due course (there is an embargo on it until we finish the MP3) and thus the serious JAM researcher would always be able to access this complete material.

So its:
No, don't add it in;
Yes, but do it in your own voice;
Yes, but try to make it sound like KW as he originally delivered it.

But no promises in any case. I should have raised this last weekend, so urgent responses please.

Dave

We should have the answer to whether or not I have 259 in my loft or garage within two weeks. I am returning to the UK and finding this tape, if I still have it, is my top priority.

I've never heard of anyone who has this Dave, so if you think it may be somewhere in your home, well, you may have undiscovered gold...

Hello Jammers,

I have been sorting out my JAM collection recently and exploring some of the links on this excellent yahoo group looking for gaps or finding better copies. Thanks to the uploaders!

I note that Episode 259, Getting Wound Up, starring the 4 boys, appears hard to find.  Episode 173, with Andree Melly, appears to masquerades in its place as it too commences with the subject Getting Wound Up.

As someone has already pointed out, Dean does not appear to supply a transcript.

If anyone has an electronic copy that they could upload that would be really great, as I think this was one of the best shows of the late 1970s.

I know I recorded it on cassette tape back then. The show was so good I even wrote half a transcript (hence my memory of it). Both these things may survive somewhere in my house in the UK, though over the years I lost several recordings from my cars.

If the episode is required I could get it uploaded, though I would need help. However it could be some months before circumstances land me back in my homeland.

Best regards,

Pondy dave
