I've just noticed a 2 second pause in the recording at the 13 minute mark. Thankfully, when the ABC iPlayer gets a jitter, it just pauses and does not lose content!  I've excised the gap and uploaded the repaired copy (taken from the original wav version to avoid generational loss - thank heaven for lossless master copies!)

Cheers
Mark, with top hat

You are welcome, kind squire of the realm.  For those wondering how I have magically been able to record at near the witching hour, I use the following:

- iSound (http://www.abyssmedia.com/mp3recorder) - records what you hear even if your damned RIAA-crippled sound card prevents it (curse them to hades!).  BTW, I own no stock in abyssmedia, but their product is so neat and easy.  It includes an easy-to-use scheduler to start recording at specified times of the day/week.  And it records WAV format!

- Windows scheduler, to start up iSound just before the recording is due. This is strictly not necessary if you keep iSound running all the time, but being a man who started computing on a TRS-80 with 4K of RAM, I am psychopathically anal about processes running unnecessarily all night.

Now, if I can just find a way for the computer to wake itself at 5:25am instead of staying running all night, I'd be an even happier anal psychopath.

You can, but it depends somewhat on what hardware (Motherboard) and OS your PC comprises.
Whether you use sleep or hibernate depends on the Motherboard as far as I know.

I did some Googling and came across this useful little Freeware gem, only useful if you have Windows though

http://www.dennisbabkin.com/php/download.php?what=WOSB

Standby reduces power consumption from about 50 to 2.5 watts, while Hibernate reduces it from about 50 to 1.8 watts, since modern computers are always using some power even when "off".

Saving 1W saves about £1 or $1 a year...
