I feel that Paul goes thru cycles of involvement in HIGNFY. There were a few series of HIGNFY recently where i got the feeling Paul would have rather have been elsewhere, however in the most recent one he participated far more. He seemed even more lively with Reginald D Hunter so maybe its the choice of panelists as well. The only JAM episode i picked up on Paul being quieter was Episode 6 of Series 60.

It cant be easy doing the same shows over and over without tiredness kicking in. However HIGNFY was poor when Paul took a series off years ago, the same happened to Red Dwarf when Chris Barrie left for a series.

Who knows, maybe it would benefit both Paul and JAM if he wasnt in all the episodes. Give both a bit of a breather. However saying that whenever i see Paul's name missing from the panelists i do feel it won't as good. But im sure the same would have been said about Kenneth Williams and the gang.
