Rake also means "An immoral or dissolute person; a libertine" and water could refer to the seas, ie tread the waters. Therefore "a be-blazered superannuated old rake of the first water" could mean an old immoral sailor.
Im sure Clement would have tried that defence amongst others.

Who wants to be Chairman?

I havent heard Shappi on JAM but ive yet to be impressed with her on other shows.
Nicolas seems to grandiose everyone going by his less than serious openers where he declares the greatness of the panelists.

Im a big Andy Hamilton fan. Hopefully Old Harrys Game will be back soon.
I know he's not highly rated but Richard Madeley has some good anacdotes and a wide vocabulary so would be interesting to see how he handled the occasion. I'd also like to see Terry Wogan given more of an opportunity after his two shows from series 59. Rick Wakeman has already been invited back and he was from the same run of shows.
