this is a well known and documented bug in lots of browsers (works OK in Firefox )

email clients get it wrong too

using '(' and ')' in web addresses URLs should be OK, it was not originally designated a 'special' character like the ':' and '/' in the addresses

if you want to use '(' and ')' in filenames you need to do the following in any links pointing to them:

use %28 for ( and %29 for )

this Guy has written a little utility to make it easy if you feel so inclined

paste the address with ( and/or ) in the URL box, click Encode and out pops the usable address

so

http://nylon.net/up/Jam-1968-09-30@017=Learning_To_Fly(kw_Debut)-v2.mp3

becomes

http://nylon.net/up/Jam-1968-09-30@017=Learning_To_Fly%28kw_Debut%29-v2.mp3
