Paul - do you happen to have "An Audience With Barry Cryer" or "Two Old Farts In The Night" as MP3s?

Hi LC

I have Two Old Farts - You can find it here -
http://www.mediafire.com/?662649ul8588w
But I don't have and can't find An Audience with anywhere... 50 pages of
Google searching only turned up American Online bookshops.

Do you have Barry Cryers autobiography "You Won't Believe This But..."? I
can upload that if you want it.

Enjoy the Two Old Farts

Paul, LC
I couldn't find a mention of An Audience anywhere either.
My episode bible doesn't have any info other than the title - that is VERY rare.
http://radiolistings.co.uk/programmes/a/au/audience_with_barry_cryer__an.html

If you're interested in any of the following I can do the honours...

Chain Reaction - s2e1 Jo Brand Interviews Barry Cryer.mp3
Chain Reaction - s2e2 Barry Cryer Interviews Mark Thomas.mp3
I've Never Seen Star Wars - s2e1 Barry Cryer.mp3
Comedy Confessions - s2e2 Barry Cryer.mp3
That Reminds Me - s1e1 Barry Cryer.mp3

Brilliant - yes please Paul. BTW, listened to show 4 of recent series of Clue and loved Graeme's interpretation of Barry Cryer's duck.

Hi all,

I'm sorry to sound like a bit of a damp squib and obviously feel free to totally ignore me, but...

In my mind there's a difference between "sharing" material that's been broadcast to the public and isn't available commercially and "sharing" commercial material. It's probably all covered by copyright and there probably isn't any legal difference, but it does feel different to me. Some "grey" websites like UKNova operate a similar policy.

"You Won't Believe This But..." is available on Amazon, although on cassette tape. "An Audience With Barry Cryer" is similarly available on CD.

I'm not going to preach to anyone, but please have a think before we all get carried away in this sudden glut of material.

Cheers

kJ

Well, this can be said about several of the JAM shows too, including the last two reruns from the 60s. They are available on CD too, in CD quality (I run the CD versions, with the featured introductions by Parsons, on the JAMmer shoutcast).

Also, if a show is only available on cassette then in my opinion that's as close to not being available as one can get...

That being said, I think BBC deserve the support by buying their CD releases. That's why I buy them (well, that and the "exclusive material").

A million thanks for this - may flights of angels lead you on your way.

I remember seeing Barry and Willie together on Wogan years and years ago. I remember Barry told the joke about what is the difference between a sheep and a Skoda and Willie got up and walked off in (fake) disgust as everyone was laughing. They were just so funny together.

Love, David

Nope, I won't ignore you kJ, I agree 100% to be honest.
I think you are right to be cautious in these matters.
We wouldn't want the Group closed down because of copyright infringement now would we ?

Auntie Beeb is not renowned for prosecuting anyone for sharing radio programs but record companies have been known to do so for violations involving CD and DVD material.

What is your view Dean, being the most important one here I would say.

I must admit I hadn't considered this. I agree, sharing BBC shows which aren't commercially available is one thing, sharing commercially available recordings of stage shows or whatever is a different thing entirely. I wouldn't want the site closed down just because I'm too lazy or stingy to shell out a few quid!

I can swear by Clemet's grave that this JAM "ring" will never, ever be closed down because of this sharing of BBC radio shows. It just will not happen, trust you me.

You guys are perhaps a tad stingy though. The CDs do look great. And they are cheap too! ;)

seeing as Don asked me to, I am jumping into this discussion although to be honest, I don’t have anything profound to say.

First thing is you can make any distinction you wish but any unofficial download is a copyright violation. Every transcript on my website is a copyright violation. Espen’s stream is a copyright violation. Every Just A Minute video on YouTube is a copyright violation. If you feel strongly about keeping to the law, well, that’s the law. It may seem unlikely that the BBC would ever publish complete transcripts of the entire series – but that doesn’t give me the legal right to make the decision to publish for them.

I’m always very aware that some lawyer at the BBC could close my site down, through a very simple complaint to Yahoo who host it. Now I have helped the BBC with information several times and been acknowledged for my work by the producers and Nicholas and others, and the BBC even links to it. But that doesn’t matter – it would still be open to the BBC to take a position against the large amount of copyright violation that is there.

I have once had to take something down – or more accurately it was taken down for me! I posted on the blog a post about Espen’s web stream. Blogger took it down after a report from someone in the recording industry that I was promoting a copyright violation. Thgey gave me the right to appeal it. But I didn’t want any trouble – or anyone looking any further at the site – so I did nothing. The permanent links to the stream on both the main website and the blog remain.

So in the end I think this is really a question for everyone individually.Personally I always buy the CDs although I always have the shows already. That’s my small way of saying thank you.
