I am showing my age when I say to the following:
Paul Merton - The Series - on TV, available on Channel 4 catch up
Stephen Fry - a bit of Fry and Laurie
Kenneth Williams - Carry On
Clement Freud - on TV - dog food commercial and reading "Grimble", together with a spot of cooking, on Jackanory. Plus I recall seeing his face on British Rail butty wrappers.
Peter Jones - popping up in Norman Wisdom films and the like on TV in black and White - he has a small part towards the end of Press For Time (1966) movie currently on iplayer.
Derek Nimmo - All Gas and Gaiters on TV, and the Penguin choc biscuit commercial (submitted a few weeks ago).
Tim and Graeme
(and Bill) will always be Goodies for me, though I recall Hello Cheeky (Tim, Barry) on the Radio - I don't recall anyone on here's been collecting those episodes.
Charles Collingwood - well, obviously as a voice from the Archers, but visually on Sticky Moments, which was an early Julian Clary vehicle, part written by Paul, as a recurring judge character I recall.
Nicholas - from JAM and Sale of the Century
Sheila - JAM and Carry On Cleo.
Tony - JAM
Kit - JAM ...no idea what he looks like.

I think it's definitely something that people do, association.
It all depends where you first "met them" and how strong that first impression was.
You always get this: "where's that person from!" thought
I have:
Paul Merton / Steven Frost - Whose Line is it Anyway
Stephen Fry - QI & his books
Kenneth Williams - Carry Ons, Just William, Willo the Wisp!
Clement Freud / Peter Jones - JAM!
Derek Nimmo - One of our dinosaurs are missing, then JAM.
