Re: New vs Old

I doubt anyone of us would agree completely with any list list of
regulars! We all have our favourites, I'm sure.

I thought the new episode this week underlined my earlier point
that Marcus Brigstocke (is it really spelt that way?) may well be
a natural and a possible future 'core' regular; especially as his
background is radio in the main (as far as I'm aware ie. 'The Now
Show').

Its nice to see someone responding showing they've understood where
I'm coming from on the reason for the need for regulars and gives
me heart that the producers of the show may be thinking the same way.

I almost named Kit myself as a regular, he certainly has the
abilities but my thoughts on chemisty between the panelists
and those I had chosen caused me to drop him to the guest section.
He isn't a Williams or Merton 'show-leader' type, certianly not a
dour, caustic Freud type, not a one-liner quick witted Jones type,
and not quite in the Nimmo raconteur, experience-relating mould
(who is?) though perhaps this is his closest fit.

I think in the past there was a definite attempt to find a certain
chemisty and balance going on and would be interested to discuss
the merits of this, but perhaps in a different thread.

I agree with your comments re: Dara, his dialect virtually
has a hesitation bulilt into it, but as this IS a part of a
genuine dialect so far the other players appear to have been
prepared to overlook it.... but who knows ....?

One possible disappointment for you, Dean, which you may not be
aware of. Jenny Eclair did a celebrity 'pop idol' type of thing
(ironic after the Westcliffe-on-sea recording where Nicholas
advised her never to accept any such offers after her rendition of
Puppy Love). She was truly terrible (obviously) but gave it her all
from the few bits I saw and lasted a long time. This seems to have
boosted her profile and, of all people, the 'foul-mouthed female
punk stand-up artiste) has become a much sought after TV
host here in the UK. Surely more lucrative than JAM?
