I meant to mention that the shows were being filmed for the BBC's Red Button coverage. I think this means they put video of some of the shows up on the website - not sure if it goes on TV as well. Anyway Brits will no doubt knows what this means. They also filmed some of the audience after so if you see a fat bald bloke in a blue shirt....

Hi Dean

The "red button coverage" means that it's going to be part of the BBC's interactive service. When watching many BBC programmes on digital TV (i.e. by cable, satellite or on the terrestrial Freeview system) it's possible to press the red button on your remote control and get access to alternative content.

As an example, BBC1 may be showing the centre court coverage during Wimbledon week but if you press your red button you get to choose from coverage from some of the other courts as well. Or during motor races you could get to watch from fixed viewpoints as a spectator would rather than chasing the leaders around the track.

This sort of thing tends to be on special events only but pretty much all of the time you can get things like the latest news summary, weather forecast, etc. Sometimes they run themes as well, so it's possible they're planning an "Edinburgh Festival" theme.

So it could be going on the website as that also counts as interactive media. But it could also be going on TV, although on this parallel broadcasting system rather than on the regular TV schedule. If it is going on TV then it can be recorded onto DVD or tape just like a normal programme which would be exciting.

Cheers

kJ
