Does anyone feel deflated by the most recent series?
Not listened to many as been busy...but I loved those with Sheila in them. I think Tony was in there. Felt like an early 2000s classic.
I am a Tony fan...he has a very funny way without having to shout, and he never is rude to Nicholas.......which is a shame really...as being rude to Nic is always fun.
That said, over the past decade its really Nic treating Tony badly that has soured things a bit....such as telling Tony he was being too keen by challenging for BBC, and when Jenny, I think it was, made a wrong repetition challenge, Nic changed the wording of the challenge, despite Tony's appeal for reasoned
consideration, and Nic's challenge was also wrong, but awarded against Tony. Or the time when Tony won, and Nic said, tell you what, lets say everyone won, which clearly upset Tony. I do wish Tony would stand up for himself against Nic.
It would be interesting to have an analysis of Nic's mistakes series by series...that accepting a challenge for repetition that was wrong, or not rewarding a correct challenge of repetition. You cannot really consider deviation as that's usually a matter of opinion, and hesitation, often where one draws the line. Nor can one add in deliberately wrong decisions - such as giving the new person another go, or allowing someone in full flow to continue, or accepting a wrong decision made by the audience. Or totting up the points at the end wrongly so everyone draws.
My impression is that Nic's repetition errors have
become fewer in the last few years.

Subject: [just-a-minute] Paul Merton Radio documentary, podcasts, the latest JAM series
Hi
The BBC documentary of the week podcast is Paul Merton on the Leeds Variety Music Hall
http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/r4choice
Als recommend subscribing to Friday Night Comedy - you get the news or now quiz usually, though the recent series where one person was interviewed one week and interviewed someone else the next was great (especially for new order fans).
comedy of the week is a bit hit or miss - as you would expect
Finally, does anyone else feel deflated by the most recent series? Pam Ayers was herself (again), Gyles bluster as ever, and I've never really warmed to Tony Hawks. Rick Wakeman and Phil Jupitus were like a hint of the past where people tried to talk n the topic - I remember someone in the last series doing that and being slated for being 'boring'. It seemed tired and flat (from a listener for at least 40 years)
