Message 1 / 12

I’ve been asked by the BBC to see if I can find any fans in India, in particular ones who play the game.

If this is you, or you know how to contact someone who is, please email me off-line at dbedford@...

ta, Dean

Ref JAM on TV, Nic made all the right noises in this interview. Sounds like my wish for them to play a straight Just A Minute game on TV with a solid bunch of performing regulars with no hamming it up for the cameras will be granted, if Nic can resist.......

I will be travelling across darkest Africa from 17th November for many weeks, so as always will remain grateful to those of you who upload. I am sure you will upload the TV versions as MP3s. Thanks.

Dave

It was good to hear that Paul Merton is definately going to be on the India shows as i cant see him traveling that far if it wasnt going to be faithful to the radio shows. Maybe i rely too much on seeing Pauls name but it has that safety quality to the program for me. If Paul isnt there i do have a feeling of 'uhh'. But then i hear the episode and its usually good. And there are a few poor episodes where Paul is on.
I actually agree with Nick that it all depends of the panelists and there have been shows when it hasnt gelled for whatever reason.

Hi Espen. You're welcome for the upload.

It's only relatively recently that I've discovered ID3 tags - I've always pooh-poohed them in the past, until I realised that MP3 players actually use the tags to determine play order instead of filenames!

I don't know what tool you use but I use Mp3tag, I can recommend it highly, it is very user-friendly
http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

I also run series sets of programs through MP3Gain to normalise the volumes, especially necessary if they don't all come from the same source
http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/

to complete the set (do it first though) I top and tail mp3s using mp3DirectCut which does so without decoding and re-encoding as some do
http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html

All assumes you're using a Windows PC obviously.
I'm sure others will have their favourite tools too
It is good to share....

Thanks, Don.  I love MP3tag, and MP3gain (I love sourceforge overall!)

And only today I was wondering about a non-encoding MP3 trimmer - the ABC JAMs often have a 2 second pause at around the 19 minute mark (no audio is lost, the broadcast just pauses) - and I have no idea why!  And it's not just my setup: ABC recordings by Martin sometimes have them too.

I usually edit out the gap when editing in Audition 3 and saving to FLAC, then MP3.

I'll have a good look at ms3DirectCut 'cos sometimes I get an MP3 and not a lossless version which can be repeatedly edited without generational quality loss.

There's also a neat MP3 joiner, which is particularly useful to join sections of audiobooks (or other split audio files) back together into a single file... mergeMP3 at http://shchuka.com/software/mergemp3/
