I agree an anti-virus scan is a good idea but there is a fair chance your AV program of choice will find nothing, it is a good idea to try more than one, but not at the same time. MSE is well regarded these days but it may not do the trick.

Viruses are only one of several ways to hack email accounts.

I think you'll find that is a recommended course of action to take in such cases
