Maybe they have a sequence planned for the 45th birthday celebrations and they want the episodes in order for that?

It’s not actually the recorded sequence – the two shows featuring Paul, Julian, Sue and Charles were recorded first.

It is the first time in 12 years they have started with two shows from the same recording. I’m interested to know why too.

Another statistical oddity. Sarah Sharpe – who I understand is now on maternity leave – blew the whistle in the first show – and a newcomer, Sharon Leonard, in the second.

out of interest, is this the first time they have played shows in the recorded sequence? They usually mix them up a bit more than that, leaving a few weeks in between so that they can run the 'last time we were here/playing' lines.
