I tag them almost exactly like you Don, only difference is I use date in title instead of episode cause it looks better on the JAMmer stream info, and "artist" is either "Just A Minute" or prefereable the panellists.

Filename syntax I use is "JAM (date) - (title).mp3".

If you use a portable mp3 player then ID3 tags are a necessity as a lot/most/all of them use tags and not filenames on their display when playing and for sorting too.

Your filenames are long because of the amount of meta-data you put in them, this is a problem with some players (including one of mine) when browsing files instead of titles as they only show the first certain number of characters, the rest being truncated, so I limit the size of my filenames to something like

JAM - s01e14 Keeping Wicket

I use the following ID3v2 tags

Title - s01e14 Keeping Wicket
Album - Just a Minute - s01
Artist - NIck Parsons (maybe, not fully committed yet)
Album artist - ditto
Year - Year
Comments - Date, subjects, contestants
Track - Episode Number
Genre - Radio Comedy
Image - some appropriate image such as CD cover or Nick or the cast or 'whatever' as my iPod displays this while playing the file

I use Mp3tag to edit these as it's free, easy to use, fast, has many shortcuts, can do batch editing and much, much more
