Topic: Status of Links

Message 1 / 9

Greetings,

As Dean requested, I checked the status of hyperlinks in the 'Links' and 'Messages' sections. After testing each, I created a single spreadsheet for all programs, in as close-to alphabetical & chronological order as possible. You can access this spreadsheet (Links at Just a Minute) in our Yahoo Group's 'Files' section. The 'Red' links would not open for me.

Please allow me to apologize in advance, because even though I rechecked my efforts, I'm sure you'll find some errors. I'll be happy to repair them, and will try to update this document as new links are posted or old ones become obsolete. The document is locked for editing, because it's quite easy to make unintentional changes. Keep in mind that the hyperlinks in Column "B" are Live.

Arbitrary hyperlink titles were created, to make identification easier (standardization of titles). For instance, I used 'Nylon Net's' file-naming method for all single Just a Minute posts/links. Naturally, I moved Just a Minute to the top of the sheet.

Two links worth noting are http://www.mediafire.com/just-a-minute (The largest almost-complete JAM source at our group) and http://www.mediafire.com/?drmsu5i1fqqx7 (Sixteen of the 1999 JAM Television programs). Both links are finicky and I had to copy/paste them into another browser window to get them to open.

Cheers,

Pete

Thanks for doing this.

I'm both excited, and a little afraid, to see links for I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue here, too. Afraid because this may eventually force me to try to properly organise my ISIHAC collection as I did with Just a Minute. I will then have no free time left to eat or sleep.

I've often said that I need to be wealthy enough to hire someone to organise media for me. ;)

Funny (in a spooky way)  you should mention ISIHAC...
I have just received notification from Mediafire that download access to the episodes I had stored there (series 44 & 45) has been suspended due to copyright infringement.

That's first time I have heard of shared BBC programmes being affected by copyright issues.
No point in me keeping them there now so I have deleted them.

I quietly wonder if the BBC actually filed a complaint, or if Mediafire proactively said "Hold on..  this looks like copyrighted material!".

Hosting providers are getting more proactive about that stuff, especially since the Megaupload takedown.

The same has just happened on the Old Harrys Game forums. It seems that the BBC have changed their policies and told all the site to remove links - even if the are non-profit making! I hope this means that they are going to make more programmes downloadable themselves.

Steve.
