Dear All (bar one),

I have listened to my UK 1978 mps of JAM. Two are poor recordings which whistle in the background. Not sure where I found them online. Of course you may have better mp3s than I have found.

If there are no better recordings available on this group I am happy to make my cassette tape recordings available, as with Getting Wound Up. I have not listened to them for ages and can no longer check the quality. I do know that they were good recordings as I listened to them often when I had a car tape player.

One recording is on the same tape as we used to reconstruct the 1978 Getting Wound Up, so it may be on two casettes or more and just may have 7 seconds missing (as Getting Wound Up has). This one is 258/12/13 16 May 1978, Nicholas Parsons with Kenneth Williams, Clement Freud, Peter Jones and Sheila Hancock, making up.

The other one on a single cassette is 251/12/6 28 March 1978, Nicholas Parsons with Kenneth Williams, Clement Freud, Peter Jones and Sheila Hancock, making a good start.

In my view 1978 is one of the best seasons of the early years.

Dave

Hi Mr Pony. My #258 is of awful quality, so an improved recording would be greatly appreciated.  If I can help in any way, give me a hoy.

My #251 has a superheterodyne whine (don't ask me what it is, but the name sounds right for some reason - and it is a whine) so once again a superior recording would be much appreciated.

Regards

Mark

Hi Dave (& you all):

Like mr Nylon, my copy too is poor, therefore it's safe to assume that there are only poor recordings of this show in circulation. An upgraded version would be splendid.

The other one on a single cassette is 251/12/6 28 March 1978, Nicholas Parsons with Kenneth Williams, Clement Freud, Peter Jones and Sheila Hancock, making a good start.

I don't know how or why, but my version of this show is actually pretty good. It can be better and your tape probably is, but I can't hear any of this whistling noise you and mr Nylon talk about.
This *may* be one of the shows that I've done restoration on myself, stupid me has not taken any notes on what shows I've done that with, but a new version from your vault would probably be better regardless.

So there you go. The #258 show would be yet another amazing find from your archive, and the #251 one is probably also very welcome by the whole community.

As always, I'll gladly be of assistance with audio restoration or encoding to mp3 or any other format should the need be there.

Thanks Charles - very nice copy.

Mark and Espen - I will listen to 1979 et seq seasons to see if I have any more potential upgrades (and also give others time to check if they have any better 258, notwithstanding what you say Espen) and, if there is a need, we can all 3 do the same as last year when we recovered Getting wound Up.

Dave
