Hi

There has been mention of the DesertIslandDisks which I heartily concur with as a source of interesting though sometimes limited insights into people.*

Was recently listening to the latest one with Peter Ackroyd and there was a moment where he said without hesitation and Kirsty went on deviation or repetition, which they both enjoyed and made me smile.

But Peter also talked about the fact that he never told his mother about his partner of 23 years (if I remember right). I am not sure how long their lives overlapped, but it made me think about Kenneth (among others) whose lives must have been so difficult in those years. Not that GLBT have a bed of roses now (obviously not a forum for a debate about gay marriage) but highlighted the pain behind a lot of the pleasure many people have given us.

* I for one am finding Stephen Fry's obsequious personality grating - I got so angry about how wonderful everyone else was in his second memoir, which I bought as the app MyFry, and the very early DID from him catches him at an interesting period.
