Hi All,

I am just responding to a number of recent comments on this thread.

I heard Tony on ISIHAC this week and felt he did really well, unexpectedly so, despite frequent Errs. That edition was packed with past Jammers.

What I really love is when the panel teases Nic or says outrageous things about his past life, famously as a transvestite (TV big boy) prostitute in old London town, and these teases are often deliberately contrived by the subject title. Though I am on record as saying Tony could do a sound job as Chair, I cannot see him attracting this sort of teasing. Gyles on the other hand could be teased mercilessly as Chair, but I would miss him as a panellist, as well as perhaps lacking the other qualities of a JAM Chair. Not sure if he would know when to let the others have a go.

Rob Brydon - didn't really like his appearances, and he seemed to pitch his complaints in an angry fashion.

I think Nic has got better with age as a Chair....If I had the time and inclination I would do an analysis by the decade of his errors (iro wrongly awarded repetition mainly) and I reckon these would show a decade on decade improvement. Peter's last year is hard to listen to, but I think Clement remained very funny till the end - and though his delivery slowed, his pursuit of bonus points for me made his final years a joy.

I think Tim Rice would make a good Chair, and I wish he would come back to JAM.

Dave

With the inevitable retirement of NP as chairman of JAM, who could possibly take over. I have been listening closely to Tony Hawks and he seems to fit in nicely. He does not take himself to seriously, he understands the game well.

Totally agree on Hawks. He's humble too, and not a spotlight hogger. Plus he's intelligent and indeed understand the game and the rules. He's not the funniest or best *panellist* out there, but you don't need to be that to be a good chairman (Nick suck as a panellist for example).

So yeah, I vote for Hawks!
