Some good points there, Dave:

What I really love is when the panel teases Nic or says outrageous things about his past life, famously as a transvestite (TV big boy) prostitute in old London town, and these teases are often deliberately contrived by the subject title. Though I am on record as saying Tony could do a sound job as Chair, I cannot see him attracting this sort of teasing.

That is an exceptionally good point. But then again, I can't really picture *anyone* being as easily teased as Nic, because only Nic is so... easy to "bully". It's just how he is as a person, he's so attackable. How he loves to be talked about, how he so often occasionally say something rather dumb, you know, his entire person is like that. He just *have* to be attacked by the panel members or the entire show would fall flat!

With the next chairman there will also follow a significant change of the show, I think that is completely unavoidable. The worst thing I can imagine is if we get a new chairman that "tries to be" Parsons. That would be the death of the show.

I still root for Hawks!

I think Nic has got better with age as a Chair....If I had the time and inclination I would do an analysis by the decade of his errors (iro wrongly awarded repetition mainly) and I reckon these would show a decade on decade improvement.

I've claimed the same! I believe that Dean then said that was just my imagination - and one shall never underestimate data coming from the Dean - but at least the major errors, or the situations where he just flat out don't pay attention, seems to be fewer and further between during the last, say, 7-8 years than much of the 90s. At least, that's how things appear in my head too.

Peter's last year is hard to listen to, but I think Clement remained very funny till the end - and though his delivery slowed, his pursuit of bonus points for me made his final years a joy.

Oh man, I thought Clement was really tough to listen to the last few episodes. Man, he didn't follow what was going on at all.

He should have retired at least a year earlier, in my opinion.
