Thanks for the tip, Pauline. 

I'm fascinated by his magnificent diction in spite of his 'common' upbringing, which I now realise is very common with English performers, like Derek Nimmo (from Liverpool), Diana Dors (a lovely speaker, by the way!), Leo McKern (who said on Desert Island Disks that his Australian accent on arrival in England was "as thick as porridge").

(By the way - I'm on a Desert Island Disks binge at the moment. Have you blokes heard our Chairman's appearance?)
