is that here in the USA "panel" games, word games or just plain
comedy is almost zero here on radio and have been absent for many yrs
now.
There are the few like Says You ( word games), Wait Wait don't tell
me ( the usa version of The News Quiz), and of course Praire Home
Companion- all on NPR (that is IF you local NPR carries them).
Drama on radio is even harder to find here. ( the Big exception to
that is the Seattle produced and nationaly aired Imagination Theater-
bless you Jim French!!!)

It used to be better ( at least here in Seattle)-my introduction to
classic brit comedy such as I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again and The
Goon Show both came from my local NPR ( National Public radio)
station in the early/mid 70's.

Maybe with the popularity of Ipods and podcasting the usa will be
open to more Audio entertainment.

Everytime I visit the UK i almost weep at how much BBC audio material
is available to purchase at stores-here try even locating the almost
non existant "comedy/spoken word' section at even the largest CD shop
in the USA!
We can barely buy our OWN comedy nor less any other nationality- and
don't even bother to find anything Vintage in a store-have to shop
via the web for any of that. Ok that is enough Whining for now- LOL-

Very little radio comedy is ever released on CD anyway.  While this does make it harder to get hold of, it also means we're allowed to post it on UKNova (a torrent site, in case you haven't heard of it), so it's swings and roundabouts really.

UKNova is a godsend. Thanks to that site, I have been exposed to so
many amazing UK programs (both TV and radio), that in fact I don't
think I'll ever go back to US/Canadian programs again! :D There's just
absolutely no comparison!

Thirded. My only problem with UKNova is that it's so ridiculously hard
to get a good ratio since it's usually about 12 million seeders to 3
leechers, but . . .

I used to get quite a good ratio by just leaving all my torrents downloading until they dropped off the server, but then they instituted a rule that you can't be uploading more than fifteen files at once, and since then my ratio has been slowly ticking down...

to get a good ratio since it's usually about 12 million seeders to 3
leechers, but . . .

For me it was a long hard struggle to reach a ratio of 1. Especially
since, for a period of several months, my upload speeds inexplicably
dropped to ridiculous lows -- less than 5 kb/sec. Keep in mind I have
Cable internet with a maximum upload speed of around 75 kb/sec. I was
so glad when my upload speeds returned in the new year, I was about
ready to tear my hair out.

Also, by the time I finally reached a ratio of 1, I had downloaded
over 100 *gigs* of content. Meaning I was putting in overtime
uploading as much as I was downloading. But it's so nice to not have
to wait hours to start downloading new torrents.

It's very true. I had another account that had an okay ratio, but
forgot to log in often enough and they deleted it. So on my new
account, my ratio is a laughable 0.030. Not kidding. It's bloody
impossible, that site . . .

5kb/s?  You were lucky!  I'm lucky if I get any upload speed at all for UKNova, and I mean that literally.  And I don't even have to wait before I download.  My problem is that I'm on a University network that doesn't permit port-forwarding, which means I can't become "connectable", whatever that means, so I only ever get a half-decent rate when it's something I've seeded from scratch.  And yet with other torrent sites (where ratios don't matter), I can get up to 400kb/s or so.  There's no justice.
