Welcome, Wayne.

I don't know about the listening figures, but I can report that the shows are attended by all ages (from 14 to 114 in equal numbers).  I can't think of many programmes that straddle age groups in that way.  Its popularity as a live show has not waned; tickets are tough to get.

The big test for the show will be when Nicholas can't do it any more.  Who knows, maybe some radio executive will want something new?  Maybe, it won't work as well?

I too like the old players of the game but the show was quite different to today.  it's funnier today on average than in the 1970s, but you got to know the older players more (because they were on so frequently). The producers today probably try too many new faces (rather than stick with a tested 10 or so competent players), but then JAM appears to play more games per year than it did then (and, of course, the stars today have busier schedules than in the past).

hope you enjoy the group

Hi Dean and All
I love the simplicity of the game, yet its almost impossible to play. I like the older players if I am honest as they seem to give more value in the time.  The older players such as Clement chasing extra points, Peter Jones with his constant errms and quick one liners always makes me laugh. Aimee MacDonald was very funny as well and should give it ago again IMO, Wendy Richards although Nick says she was not invited back because she was a bit too aggressive, I felt this added to the fun and her trying to link to her life so as to avoid the traps was a scream. Lovely Derek with his stammer "hesitation" falls.

Of the new generation I know Paul is good and plays well, But the Sue Perkins tend to get on my nerves a bit.  We have to move forward as they rest are dead, but I dont get the same kick with todays shows as the older ones. I fear the BBC may drop the show as I dont see it grabbing new listeners as much as they would like and the choice is just too great. Many younger ones dont seem to have the attention to listen to the show and folllow what is going on.  I have tried to get younger ones interested and they just dont see the point of the game and without building the listeners it seems doomed. Just my view by the way.
