Mark - Thank you. I foolishly rebooted my laptop yesterday evening, forgetting that it was in the middle of a scheduled capture of the JAM stream!

What an absolute corker of an episode with everyone, esp. KW, on top form!

That's how I remember JaM from the days of my youth.

Google will tell you the websites for these

I used to get lots of progs from UKNova too but that has recently reached a sticky end.
It may come back in the future, who knows?

I used Radio Downloader yesterday to grab the new episode from the BBC.  It seems to only be able to download things that have already aired, yes?

Will get_iplayer let me schedule the episode to record live?

I've found software that lets me schedule a recording, but it's dependent on my starting the stream playing and then scheduling a capture of the audio out.  I can do that, but something that would allow me to schedule multiple recordings from the live feeds (Both BBC and ABC) and have it connect and capture automatically would be fantastic.

I don't have a lot of free moments to manually set things up every day, but some sort of fire and forget solution would be great.  If I had free time then I'd write something, myself.

Loss of UKNova is sad, no doubt about it.  It won't prevent people from getting the mainstream stuff, but the disappearance of a lot of the rarer and fringe content will leave a big hole.

Well yes but If you 'Subscribe' to a programme it will download every episode as it appears on iPlayer until you tell it to stop.

ABC programming is not available on iPlayer so you cannot use Radio Downloader or get_iPlayer to capture it.

There were a couple of posts on here recently where users related how they recorded ABC progs - a look back through the posts will find them.
Posts 7325 & 7326 refer.

If you don't download 'already aired stuff' you do have to start the stream and schedule a recorder to record it whatever you use.

Thanks.  I seem to recall reading this thread, now.  D'oh.

$30 isn't an awful price to pay, I may grab the trial version and play around with it.

I won't start posting the ABC episodes, as Mark seems to have this pretty well covered, but it may be handy to have another backup in case a capture fails.

- I use 'Wake On Standby' (freeware) to wake my computer from hibernation at 5am.
- It starts up 'iSound audio recorder' (about $25), which records 'what U hear' for a pre-set time of 30 minutes (in spite of the RIAA crippling the recording abilities of sound cards nowadays.)
- iSound in turn starts up VLC player, which is fed the parameter 'http://www.abc.net.au/res/streaming/audio/windows/radio_national.asx'
- One hour later, Wake On Standby puts the computer back into hibernation.

One tip - if your computer is behind a corporate firewall, you need to supply proxy credentials for VLC to connect to the ABC.

To supply the proxy info, use the format
"C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --http-proxy=username:password@proxyservername:port

Naturally, replace username, password, proxyservername and port with real values.

This may be more convoluted than other methods, but it works for me - on 4 different computers in 2 locations, just to be on the safe side!

A clarification. When I said...

"- It starts up 'iSound audio recorder' (about $25), which records 'what U hear' for a pre-set time of 30 minutes"

Re-reading that, it sounds like the 30 minute time is pre-set in the software. It's not. It's set by me.
