Does anyone know if anything will be done to mark the 800th radio episode of JAM? At the end of this series there will have been 796 so episode 4 of series 65 will be 800. Quite a milestone.

Have there been many non soap/drama/ topical shows (eg news) that have gotten to such a number? What number is ISIHAC on?

And whilst im posting thanks to all who post messages and episodes here, always appreciated and never overlooked.

Actually, there have only been 2,909 episodes of DID.
1,572 are available to listen to on the BBC website (1571 also
available as edited podcasts):

From across the Pond, here are 2 programs that fit your description:

The Jack Benny Show ('32 to '54), 1,098 Pgms, plus TV.

The Eternal Light ('44 to '68), 1,230 Pgms, although Eternal Light contained some dramatic elements, and some pgms repeated.

The only game show (that I found) that comes close is You Bet Your Life, which ran from '47 to '74, beginning on wireless and ending on the telly.

Cheers,

Pete

I posted when i should have added and there is no edit button.

Thanks for the replies. Seems like there are only a handful of shows out there with a longer existance.

Would be nice if something was done but considering the 45th anniversary has been commemorated i somehow doubt it.

I don’t expect anything for show 800 – although the 100th show had a few subjects on that theme, none of the other 100s have. I think the next celebration will be in 2017 when the show turns 50.,..
