In fact I did inform all of them about their misnamed episodes and
*some* went to the bother of changing them and downloding the correct
episodes from me to replace the gaps left (where I had them). It
seems that where there were missing episodes, ie. non to replace the
misnamed ones, these just persisted in many people's collections -
and still persist as of last weekend i might add (I still download
them everytime in case!!!).

What amazes me is that almost all those that persist are actually
what I have come to call 'the Eddie Izzard Episode' which
tantalizingly refers to this as his second appearance, and I can't
tell you how many 'Just A Minute - Eddie Izzard.mp3' I have
downloaded but never ever found the other one. Being an Izzard fan I
have often come across these searching for his stuff from the other
direction, as it were.

However, If you check the group download links you will see I added
some missing episodes that I came across YEARS after starting my
WinMx search so I've always felt it worth continuing as there is
obviously some other source feeding into that community other than
ours here.

Another reason for mix ups, by the way, is, I believe, the use of
Americanised dates on the files (many people judge the episode by
dates rather than number (which we get from Dean's site as a rule) or
by the name of the first subject. While 1990-04-14 is obvious,
1990-04-07 certainly isn't and it just so happens the epsiode from
that last date is missing. This is why I re-named all thje files I
got on WinMx and use the correct international date format of
14Apr1990 and ALL files that have been downloaded from me (many
thousands over the last 3 years) have all gone out having first been
checked as correct against Dean's site (we put a LOT of pressure on
Dean don't we?) and been re-named in my own clumsy format eg.
0406-26-8-5May90-Just A Minute(Health Food Shops)DN,CF,PJ,WR.mp3

Clumsy, yes, but contains all search terms and identifications that
people use to search WinMx and decide whether or not to download. Any
group member who has files named in this way now knows where they
came from!

while, because of the misnamed files. what's amazing though is why
people do it in the first place, is it some sort of practical joke,
if it is, its rather cruel and insulting quite frankly.
