Can anyone discern a pattern to Auntie's choice of classic JAMs she's putting on the table for us?

It seems random to me.

Not many episodes to discern a pattern from so far:

1 s01e01 22 December 1967
5 s01e05 19 January 1968
119 s07e04 26 September 1972
247 s12e02 28 February 1978

They all feature Derek Nimmo and Clement Freud and, as they've started with such old episodes, most of the panel are no longer with us.

So far they've been in chronological order but with the big gaps they're leaving that can't last for much longer...

Maybe its by lucky dip; Everybody in the office gets to pull a number out of a hat and thats the episode they play.

Was there any pattern when they rebroadcast episodes when Radio 4 Extra started? You'd think they were working thru a series then they'd jump 3 of 4 for little reason, at times whole series' were ignored. I think they started with Series 32 ended in series 40 and aired 8 or 9 episodes.

The Radio 4 Extra schedule for next week has just been posted so I can reveal that the next classic JAM to be repeated is:

286 s14e13 4 March 1980 Kenneth Williams, Derek Nimmo, Clement Freud and Bob Monkhouse

Sadly, NONE of the panel are still with us - and there's an 'r' in the month again!

Simon

Hi All"2"
Am i correct that Bob only did one show and he was "as would be expected" superb. This man was so under rated in many ways. If you get the chance watch "the secret life of Bob Monkhouse". A tragic family life and treated unfairly by TV execs, yet after has in his death been able to provide 1000s of hours of lost TV and Radio episodes to the stations.  I never got to see him live despite many chances, but always next time and that never happened.

Week 6 of the Radio 4 Extra JAM repeats is going to be:

344 s18e07 28 July 1984 Kenneth Williams, Derek Nimmo, Gyles Brandreth, Martin Jarvis

This will be the first one without Clement Freud - and the first one without an 'r' in the month!

They're still jumping forward a few years at a time - when what we really want is some more of the missing 1968 episodes...

Simon
