Parentheses in URLs

To get technical for those of us that are Techies...

It's def not an HTML issue as paretheses are allowed in URLs (Web addresses)
Tim Berners-Lee (the inventor of the WWW) specifically allows ( and ) in URLs in the specification.
Extract from the RFC on URLs (one of the Internet rule books) written by him
   ...only alphanumerics, the special characters "$-_.+!*'(),", and
   reserved characters used for their reserved purposes may be used
   unencoded within a URL.
So they should work but of course not everyone sticks to the rules...

The only common denominator I can see is Yahoo.
