Tony Hancock did ad lib during some Hancock episodes so might have been good when freed from a script and given license to roam. He certainly had the intelligence and vocabulary.

Elaine Strict is memorable for not getting the game and causing chaos. Its a fabulously hilarious episode. Kind of like when Terry Wogan had a stint, it was good the first time but quickly got tiring.

A Few Others

Nick Hewer - very droll sense of humour, smart and quick and wouldnt make NP feel so old.
Mel Gedroyc - occasionally copresents with Sue Perkins tho maybe not on the same panel as it could come across as a gimmick.
Billy Connolly
Gene Wilder - No idea if he would have been any good but would have loved to heard him do just one show.
