Topic: 436 or 441? Double Whammy or Edwin King Of Northumbria?

I am puzzled. According to the Episode Guide at http://just-a-minute.info/jam27.html, episode 436 S27E03 (15 Jan 1994) begins with "Edwin King Of Northumbria" and episode 441 S27E08 (19 Feb 1994) begins with "Double Whammy", but according to Dean's collection at http://www.mediafire.com/just-a-minute#myfiles it is the other way round! These two shows are easily confused because they have the same line-up and sound as if they were recorded at the same session.
So who is right, the Episode Guide or Dean?

hi golux and welcome to the group.

* the episode guide is mine.

* I'm not sure whose files those ones in mediafire are, but they're not mine.

* the thing is confusing because the BBC played the two Eddie Izzard eps in the wrong order, ie. Eddie's FIRST recording was the SECOND one broadcast and vice versa. When I first did the eppy list, 12 or so years ago, I had them round the other way because it says in the recording that the February one was Eddie's debut. But I later learned the BBc had mixed them up and shifted it back.

I hope that clears it up - it would all be so much easier if the Beeb had got it right way back in 1994...

cheers

Dean

Hey Dean,

I'd been wondering about that for a while and figured that the BBC had probably reversed the order when they aired them.

I think I've personally taken a "The BBC are wrong" stance for my own collection, in this one particular case.  Just because listening to the show in order, I find myself saying "He was on a few shows ago!" when Eddie Izzard is announced as a first-time player.

Hi Dean

Thanks for your swift reply and for explaining how the confusion arose. I would prefer to go by the actual dates of first broadcast, so I am in agreement with your Episode Guide, - and very happy to be so since I find your Guide enormously helpful.

Another discrepancy which puzzles me is the divergence of series numbering from series 16 onwards. Am I correct in thinking that your Guide uses the BBC's numbering, whereas others (e.g. this group's list at http://www.freewebs.com/qitranscripts/justaminutelist.htm) use the numbering which counts each break in the broadcasts as a new series, in line with the in-show remarks by Nicholas Parsons?

I am raising these points because, having discovered that my old collection (at http://www.mediafire.com/?xpumdsi4w3i9d) has many mislabelled files and as many episodes missing as present, I am assembling a new collection of all available episodes which I will share at http://www.4shared.com/dir/anU8Uziu/Audio_to_share.html Putting this together has become an uphill task and I much encouraged by your excellent Guide, not only for the very useful information but also because I can see what great care you have taken. Many thanks for your help!

cheers
Golux

I changed to the BBC numbering three and a bit years ago. The reasons are here

I agree it's best to follow the BBC numbering; particularly now they are running repeats from different series.
Thanks again
Golux
