This from Chris who joined the group today.

Firstly welcome Chris!

Now would someone like to write a step-by-step guide to how to make
these files available to all - the sort of thing we could also put in
the FAQs. I could write one but probably better for someone wityh more
experience to do it...

cheers, Dean

Welcome, Chris!

Firstly, note that 260, 266, 272, 273, 409, 410, 419-421, 242, 430, 438, 441-443, 446, 448, 456, 457, 459, 460 are readily available, but most have been waiting for upload because of the lack of episodes in the surrounding series.

The episodes that we really, truly don't have that you do are 261, 426, 463, 464. There is actually a copy of 261 available, but it has poor audio (I'm assuming yours doesn't).

As for the remaining few, several of them are also mostly available for either upload or download, but they are incomplete. For instance, I was considering uploading 390-399, but 397 is slightly incomplete, as is 401, 404 and 405 (within the 403-407 series), and 414 and 415 (whereas 416 is complete). If you've finallly found versions that aren't cut off at the beginning, that would be absolutely fantastic!

Also--and this is a common mislabel--make sure your 405 is "Defrosting the Fridge" and not "Garden Worms".

Once we've corroborated episode lists, here's a general guide on how to upload mp3 files:

(1) Group the files into appropriate folders according (usually) to date or series, as shown in our Links folder.
(2) Right-click a folder and say "Add to Zip . . ." then name it as, for example, "JAM Series Whatever.zip", and let the application run.
[Note: That's assuming you have Windows, which I don't anymore, so that's completely from memory--someone correct me if I'm wrong.]
(3) Once you have your .zip file, go to MediaFire.com. (You can sign up for a free account there if you want to be able to keep track of your upload URLs and how many people download them, but it's not necessary.)
(4) Click "Browse . . .", find the right .zip file, and upload it.
(5) Copy the URL you get, go to our Links section, and click "Add Link" (in the upper right).
(6) Follow the standard formatting we've devised on the Links page in entering the Title and Description, then "Add Link".
(7) Repeat steps (2)-(6) for each folder of JAM you've sorted.

Another note: It is a big, big, massively big help, if you have iTunes, for you to have already formatted the file names/Album/Artist/etc. to one standard (people do it differently, but as long as yours are all the same, it's easier for everyone to modify them for themselves), and most of all, to input the proper Track Numbers into each of the files.

:P How's that for a 5:00 am post? Hope that helped! I look forward to your contributions, Chris, not merely in JAM files, but in general banter as well.

Thanks a bunch, Sarah! I've just uploaded three of the four episodes
that weren't actually available (my 261 was also poor sound). I'd
never heard of Mediafire before. Seems like an incredible service;
what's the catch? :)

My mistake in not going to the "links" section before writing my
original message, so I didn't know that it was preferred to upload
files in complete seasons (I *knew* I should've browsed around more
first). So I didn't bother to upload the others that apparently are
more widely available....tho I'd be glad to at any time in the
future.

Was very excited to get #116...can't believe I've never found it
anywhere else before. I don't think this is on Martin's site...is
it? Anyway, I'm often on WinMX and sharing every ep I have, so
anyone feel free to take as much as you like if I'm on.

Looking forward to chatting more about JAM in the future. Can't wait
to uncover more episodes!

The only catch seems to be that files over 100mb aren't allowed - so for good quality video it will not work!

MediaFire has an upload limit of 100 MB, which was only implemented a
few months ago, necessitating the rapid re-uploading of many of the
files we'd already linked to. And once in a while, it'll be mostly
down for several hours, but then so do other filesharing sites. Those
are the only catches I've encountered; we're lucky it's around!

down for several hours, but then so do other filesharing sites. Those
are the only catches I've encountered; we're lucky it's around!
