I agree that while the WS # 437 file is half the size of the one I had, its sound is far crisper and I'll dub it my preferred version.

Mark - Listening preferences are just that, namely preferences. For me the under-water gurgles and metalic sound (is this what people call artifacts?) of the WS version outweigh the crispness, so I'm sticking with my original.

This also has the benefit that I don't have to worry about whether the 30 seconds less running time is just tape speed or whether this is another instance where WS have taken their scissors to the original. From the episodes that have been scrutinised here so far it seem to me that this is a real issue - and could become a right pain if WS make decent bitrate encodes available in due course.
