New information for those who don't look forward to trawling through a forum to find new juicy stuff...

You can find posts that are new to you from the forum's index page by clicking "View new posts"
You can find today's posts by clicking the "View today's posts"
Naturally - you won't be able to enjoy posts for members until you register (which is free and easy - like me.)

And as mentioned before, you can subscribe to discussion topics ("threads") and be emailed when new posts arrive.

Register as an elite JAM user at http://b9fx.com  to get the full benefit of all the discussion forums.
And if the forum dies an ugly brown dog's death, at least you can say to your grandchildren that you once visited a web forum, and they'll go, "REALLY?  Cool!"
(Except they won't, cos, you know, mail is DEAD [choke!] and forums are well OLD, but OK like. Innit?)

If you're as undecided as Cliff Richard, you can post to the forum AND the Yahoo group to cover both bases...

After all. Noone said it was easy to give up the quill, then the fountain pen, then the biro, then the typewriter and start using a computer... then email... then a forum.

Regards
Mark

I agree with you Espen. I too have seen online communities fall apart with things like this.

Also, I (like most people, I think) look at my emails every day, and most of the time many times each day. I'm also able to view them on my phone easily when I'm out, away or just off the computer.

I didn't know about other people, but I personally don't think I'll be able to login to the forum more than every over day at most. More likely only about once a week.

However, I do see Mark's points about why a forum is better in some ways, and I have signed up.

I am worried this will split the community. I think it is better to keep things as they are.
It's not every day a new vault of JAM recordings are opened - january was not our regular month. We should be able to handle the load on the mailing list.

Just my opinion - I will of course follow if everyone transfers to the new forum. But I have bad experiences with similar attempts in the past.

Hi Jammers.

I dread stepping on Dean's toes with this impertinence, but I have created an experimental JAM forum at

("Benign Effects"... geddit?  Oh...OK. It was just a domain I had lying around doing nothing, so I thought I'd use it.)

It uses myBB software and seems to be pretty easy to administer and use.

I've spent a total of 30 minutes setting it up (20 of which went into the ugly logo) so there is a lot to add if you are at all interested.

I have vacancies for forum moderators (who can take control of an individual forum), super-moderators (who have power over all forums) and super-keen contributors could even become full administrators and control the entire operation while I'm at the beach.

Please visit, register, play around and let me know what could be added, changed or improved.  I'm willing to support the forum for the long-haul if people want to use it.  Otherwise we can stay here at Yahoo.

Over to you.
Regards
Mark
