Hi all. In case you haven't been here for a couple of days, I invite you to visit the new JAM Fan Forum at http://b9fx.com.

Twelve folk from here have registered already and you might also find it useful for your jammy needs. It offers quite a few advantages compared to using the Yahoo mailing list.

Regards
Mark

Hi Espen. I can understand your hesitation in changing horses. I've also seen forums split from mailing lists (and usenet groups split into subgroups) with different levels of success.
The new venues will sink or swim according to popular opinion: it's hard to predict which will happen, and one can't force people to change.

It's just that forum software is designed for the things we are doing here, whereas mailing lists can only do it in a pretty clumsy and uncontrollable way.
If people use the new forum, that's good. If people prefer to stay here, that's fine.  But I'd say that - realistically speaking - it would be hard for both to thrive unless they have a clear difference in purpose.

Cheers
Mark

Why the need for a *new* forum?

Have I missed something? Is this one closing?

Can't see what a new forum would add, unless the future of this message board is in doubt.

This is not a message board. This is a mailing list.
Head over to the forum and you'll see the difference between a forum and a mailing list. :)

A Yahoo group is a bit of a hybrid - partly mailing list, part forum, but it's a forum with only a single thread.  A true forum has as many threads as users want.
As Dean has said, the Yahoo group does archive posts.

Cheers
