Topic: I'm Confused...

For those of us who aren't members of that forum, what are we supposed
to do? It's like you're trying to make a two-tier system where the
forum members get all the luxuries and the rest of us don't.

(I just plain don't like web-based forums. Once you've gone to the
trouble of logging in to read the messages, you feel under pressure to
post something, even when you have nothing worth saying. I prefer
email-based ones, like Yahoo Groups, where I can lurk quietly, just
reading the digests as they come into my inbox.)

Anyway, I've uploaded the most recent episode for the benefit of all
non-forum-members:

Hope that's still allowed.

Hi folks,

I don't think there's a conscious decision to make a two-tier community. It's just that some folks seem to prefer web-based message boards so have created one. There seems to be some opinion that it may be more "secure" than this list, but that's debatable. It wouldn't be difficult for copyright enforcers just to join the board and no-one would know. It may already have happened. And it doesn't help with the back-end sweeps of file sharing sites.

FWIW I haven't joined the message board/forum either for pretty much the same reasons as Solar Penguin expressed. But that's my choice and I accept the consequences, such that they are. But then again my PC at home downloads every episode of every programme that I'm interested in anyway so I'm not interested in sharing files. Or discussing anything that can't be discussed in this public list.

Cheers

kJ

KJ sums it up really. There are links here on the list’s website and I very much hope people will keep adding to them, and sharing any links they’ve put up. The forum has the password to Mark’s collection, but Mark hasn’t been the only person putting up files by any means.

People can choose to use the forum – or the list – or both! (as I do)

Hope that’s clear but feel free to ask further if it’s not.
