Topic: Paul's Relationships With Fellow Players

It seems that someone posted here a few weeks back questioning how Paul got on with Graham. I tried to find the post but never came across it again? In any case, I don't actually see that Paul has any personal issues with Graham, though he doesn't often playfully chide or dig at Graham on the show. I've noticed he loves tearing into Gyles good naturedly in particular, as well as long time players Tony,Julian,Jenny and Charles.

i don’t remember the post and I never delete anything apart from spam. I do think this is an interesting point. I used to wonder if Paul and Graham didn’t get on because they didn’t really seem to interact on the show, as you say, and neither had appeared on the other’s shows. But Paul did appear on Graham’s radio show last year where they had an entirely amiable discussion. I also remember that they came into the church together at Clement’s funeral. Of course, they might just have met in the car park, but it was nice to see them together on that sort of occasion and it suggests that at least they don’t dislike each other. I have the feeling that each is slightly in awe of the other – both are comic geniuses but of very different styles – and perhaps that is why each is cautious about taking on the other in a battle of repartee.

I agree that they seem to have a healthy respect for each other for their comic styles. The pictures of the two of them at Clement's funeral also gave me a sense of satisfaction. Paul's fondness for Clement couldn't be more apparent, and there have been a few wonderful moments on the show where it seemed quite likely that Graham and Clement also got on very well.
