Now listening to Comedy Greats on Radio 4 Extra which includes an episode
of JAM - first subject = parbuckle

Interesting factoid - according to Barry Cryer in the intro, the loud
raucous lady to be heard laughing loudly, clapping and cheering is
non-other than KenW's mother in her usual place in the front row.

What a brilliant episode, all were at their best esp KenW.
Even Clement Freud came out with a few quips that PaulM would have been
proud of.

Absolute 100% classic comedy...

Just as a random aside - is this Radio 4 Extra broadcast an upgrade
over what the group has?

More on-topic:

It's interesting to know that's Kenneth's mother. I may go back and
listen to the episode question; I seem to recall enjoying that one.

I love Just a Minute, both the classic and modern era, but there's a
quality to those classic episodes when they're at their best that just
can't be recreated. Something about the style of the show, maybe.
It'll make me laugh, but at the same time, I might learn something,
and the banter between the regulars is obviously that of four people
who know each other very well indeed.

As I've been listening to the show again, in order, and I've found
myself slowing down as I reach the point at which Kenneth died. It's
partly to savour his appearances, but it's also weird emotions, it's
strange to listen to those last couple of seasons and to know it's the
man's last work before his very sad death, and to know the turning
point that it marks for the show.

Hi (Been quiet this week on here!)
Yes, I also listened to the show and now listening to last weeks comedy greats with the fantastic Roy Hud and the Hud Lines, Barry Cryer stated that the show was not a UK show or mention Ian Messiter, which I found rather odd? Maybe true, but I thought it was a UK show that spread and not the other way round? Have a listen to the comedy greats bbc radio player, episode 2...

this show is – I think – the single best show of Just A Minute – so far.

You mention Kenneth and Clement being at their best, as they certainly were.... but I think Peter Jones has one of the best lines in the history of the show...

DEREK NIMMO: The most extraordinary person that I have ever met was a woman with amazing measurements, 38 breasts, 22...

BUZZ

NICHOLAS PARSONS: Peter Jones has challenged.

PJ: No woman could have 38 breasts!

I hope they play that round on “the most extraordinary person I have ever met” at my funeral... Kenneth is at his best in it.
