THE MORE INTERESTING QUICK OVERVIEW
So the full copy I had of this one is 6mb, at 32kbps. You can tell if it's the same one by listening around the 2:10 mark. The sound drops out quite badly, there, for a little while.
The WS copy is similarly 32kbps but of a higher quality without any drop-outs. I merged back in three bits from the original recording.
It's in my stash for anyone who wants it, or if you have a better copy, let me know.
THE BORING BIT
I think the version already in my collection was from someone's taped copy -- it plays a little slowly and actually varies in speed, being on average around 3.4% slower than the WS edit. Couple that with the usual applause/pause edits made to speed the WS version up, and comparing these was rough.
I normalised the speed as best I could from the bits I inserted, and the transitions are more or less seamless.
From Dean's site, here's what's cut from the WS broadcast that I've restored from the other copy:
Edit 1:
NP: You have 60 seconds as usual...
LAUGHTER FROM THE AUDIENCE
NP: There's nothing particularly funny about that! But it might be funny when Paul starts to speak. Anyway
Edit 2:
Missing from WS:
NP: And literally, no. Anyway, I just like to let everybody know why and how I make my decisions. Peter...
PM: It would remain a mystery otherwise!
LAUGHTER FROM PJ AND THE AUDIENCE
Edit 3:
NP: Particularly from abroad! Anyway Derek Nimmo and Paul Merton...
PJ: What kind of a broad is it who writes to you?
NP: Those broads write about different points Peter! These all seem to simply be timing edits to the banter, but the last two are certainly amusing moments that I wouldn't want to lose.
