Re: Doing it myself

OK, I see your point about not hiding things in zip files, but I prefer zips
myself for a couple of reasons. In the case of a series, I can get all of
them at once instead of each individual mp3 file. The zip also preserves
the file date and time that it was created instead of the upload date and
time. The zip format is easily viewable on almost any platform, so it isn't
really hiding anything as long as the name of the zip indicates what's in
it. Finally, the zip format ensures there is no file corruption when
downloading as otherwise you get an error when unzipping. I had an episode
of JAM once which sounded great and had a really good panel but it was mp3
only and missing the last few minutes. I had no way of knowing that the
file was incomplete until I checked the end after noticing the short running
time. Also, for sites which require you to solve the letters in the image,
it's only necessary to go through it once because you're only downloading
one zip file. Sometimes people post .rar files to the groups and I find
them much easier. Naturally, the same applies to torrents. As I said, any
platform has a zip viewer, so the file hosting sites can determine what
you're uploading just as easily whether it's regular mp3 or mp3 in a zip file.

My experience was not the same as yours: when I tried to download one file, Putlocker showed the correct file size and still showed that size when I selected it for download. Maybe it only happens with files of a certain size or type? I will have to make a few more tests to find out.

I have amassed a fine collection of material through the kindness of strangers who shared their files, I now try to re-pay their kindness by extending the same favour to others.

This is only the second time I have used this particular file-sharing site and I have not yet sussed out all it's capabilities and restrictions. I have resorted to using it because I am currently having difficulty uploading to Sendspace and Zippyshare, while my accounts at the better sites (Mediafire, Sky Drive, 4-Shared) have been closed or restricted.
>>>
>>> I am not clear as to why you think the file sizes have been reduced, I have never come across this practice at any other file-sharing site. You mentioned S38E01, did you mean S58E01? It so happens that the uploaded copy of that file is 38.5 MB but all the others in series 58 are around 25 MB, except for the Christmas episode which is about 40 MB. That would account for the 'apparent downsampling' - there is no downsampling, just variations in file sizes.
