sorry Wayne. as I said I am having some issues with some posts, especially long-untrimmed ones which come to me for approval as possible spam... changes to Yahoo group webpage seem to have some bugs. But... he says optimistically... they do now seem to be sorted out... (crosses fingers)

incidentally I'm overseas and have very limited internet access so website won't be updated for a few days.... would love to hear reports on how Henry Blofeld did!

For what it's worth I found this week's show quite contradictory.

On one hand there were several good jokes and quips in there and, of course, Sue's two full minutes.

On the other hand it was one of those shows where they seemed to feel it necessary to be over-kind to the newcomers. I think a degree of tolerance for a newcomer is welcome to ease them into the format of the show but this week was amongst those where that had been taken past tolerance and perilously close to patronising or fawning.

I'm sure it's hard to be mean to Henry Blofeld (or Blofield as Nic called him all the way through) and I know the story about his father being the inspiration for the James Bond villain of the same name is a great one but it just went a little too far for my liking.

Cheers

kJ

thanks KJ! Appreciate that very much.

Anyone else with views on this show? As you all know, I am very keen to hear it, but won't be back home till Saturday so would welcome any highlights and so on...

It seemed that Paul, who I think might be a fan, and Sue understood that Nic and the producers wanted to give Blowers as much license as possible, not only because it was his first appearance and but also in the hope that he might toss out a number of interesting and humorous deliveries. I liked this and thought it was very entertaining, but unfortunately Russell Kane didn't act as though he was in on the agreement!

Anyone who likes Blowers should try to listen to the podcast of today's Danny Baker show. There came a point where Blowers was talking about his name and nicknames, and he dropped a bomb, which the ever quick-thinking Danny explained away for the younger listeners as a term used in blow football.

have now heard the show and found it very entertaining. I thought Henry was more fluent than I expected and funny and was good at the repartee. Did anyone else notice though that he made no challenges at all? Paul made one on his behalf.

I also hugely enjoyed Paul’s TMS interview. Interesting he said JAM was his favourite bit of work – a big call as he seems to love the silent comedy stuff and improv. Good news too for the future of the show, I think.
