While it isn't great that BBC funds are being wasted on badly handled personnel issues, BBC funds are also being idealogically squeezed by government. The licence fee is frozen (which means a cut year on year in real terms), and the BBC are taking on the funding of things like the World Service- which means cuts in the money from everything else.

And then there's the profits from commercial activities that (and I freely admit I don't quite understand the logic behind this bit) are being channeled into private publishers instead of programme making.

So while it's a pain that the BBC are clamping down on filesharing etc, I don't feel I can criticise them.




(PS I'm sorry if you don't like people responding to a rant with a nice thoughtful & nuanced response- some people seem to take offense at that sort of thing.)
