...the beeb is clamping down on downloading?

At the end of this week's JAM the announcer said that the episode is available to buy on CD and digital download, presumably from iTunes as I'm sure I heard some other programme would be available from iTunes for a fee.

Don - It was the same with the last series of ISIHAC. Sales outlets are advertised on the BBC's webpage for the programme. Thus "Available on: CD or Audio download From suppliers including: Amazon, AudioGO, BBC Shop, iTunes" on http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006s5dp

The episodes usually appear on iTunes and AudioGo 7 days after broadcast. You can listen to them on iPlayer for free until then.

AudioGo are currently offering all 6 episodes of the last series as a 256kbps MP3 download for just $3.99 USD (or £2.99 GBP):
http://www.audiogo.com/just-a-minute-series-66-nicholas-parsons-gid-100156/

The only CDs available from Amazon and the BBC Shop are compilations of classic episodes and "best of" collections. The most recent episodes on CD are a couple from Series 62 & 63 on "The Best of 2012", whereas every single episode from Series 56-66 (2010-2013) is available as a download.

Yep, possibly. Well almost certainly. The beeb seem to be wanting to make even more money than they already do, apart from the licence fee we ALL should pay. It will cover the massive overpayments made to managers.
Oh well.

While it isn't great that BBC funds are being wasted on badly handled personnel issues, BBC funds are also being idealogically squeezed by government. The licence fee is frozen (which means a cut year on year in real terms), and the BBC are taking on the funding of things like the World Service- which means cuts in the money from everything else.

And then there's the profits from commercial activities that (and I freely admit I don't quite understand the logic behind this bit) are being channeled into private publishers instead of programme making.

So while it's a pain that the BBC are clamping down on filesharing etc, I don't feel I can criticise them.

(PS I'm sorry if you don't like people responding to a rant with a nice thoughtful & nuanced response- some people seem to take offense at that sort of thing.)

Dont know who this is aimed at, as I am happy to see all points of view and in many cases change my views based on the "other side" which is helpful and healthy I feel.

Sorry, yes, that was a little too defensive. I rubbed someone up the wrong way online recently. No-one in particular here Wayne!
