Topic: AudioGo in Administration

Hello everybody and greetings from Western Australia.

Decided it was time to download and enjoy series 67 of J.A.M. and doing the "right thing" headed over to AudioGo ready to pay the GBP3.99 to pay for the series.  I find that they are in administration and currently out of business.

Hmm. Tried iTunes but they don't offer the whole series to Australians, only a "Best of 2013".

Since there is no way to legally purchase these shows I'll just have to find them elsewhere I suppose. Note to BBC: "Must try harder."

Cheers,

Matt

It's still running in the UK. But I agree that there should be more legal ways to get these shows if the BBC want us to pay for them.

Audiogo?

The site's up if you're in the UK, but you can't buy anything; you can just download from your library and browse the catalogue.

Amazon don't seem to stock the 2013 CD at the moment either, despite citing the release date as 3rd October. Is this likely to be related? I was hoping to get it for Christmas.

AudioGo bought out BBC Audiobooks in 2010. As the company are now in administration all planned releases have been cancelled and no more CDs will be pressed so it looks like downloads from Audible and iTunes are the only way to legally purchase JAM at the moment...

That message went up while they attempted to reorganise/find a buyer.  Sadly, they did wind up in administration and it doesn't look like the situation is likely to change.

There's been some significant discussion of the situation on-line as they were set to release the 11th and final disk in a range of 11 interconected Doctor Who stories, this month.

The only place I can currently find JAM Complete Series 67 for sale is iTunes, where I paid AUD3.39 per episode (which works out to GBP13.85 for the series). AudioGo were offering the whole series for GBP3.99, which might be indicative of why Apple are making large profits and AudioGo have gone out of business.

Meanwhile, AudioGo's US site is moving over to Downpour.com but there's no JAM available there (yet?)

I also tried Audible.com (owned by Amazon) but the latest complete series of JAM there is No.63 (USD14.40 non-member price, or GBP9.00).

I presume BBC Worldwide, who retained a minority stake in AudioGo, are working on a way to make BBC Audiobooks available for download sometime in the not too distant future.

"Best of 2013" appears to be back on Amazon again (as well as other suppliers listed on the Amazon page).
