Well, it was the first episode to be recorded for Series 68 (3 months ago today, in fact!) so it may have originally been scheduled as Episode 1. I noticed the Radio 4 Extra listings also mistakenly listed this weeks panel as being on Episode 1 when they repeated last weeks episode yesterday.
So each episode gets broadcast FOUR times:
It debuts at 6.30pm on Mondays on Radio 4 with a repeat the following Sunday at midday on Radio 4.
The next two repeats are on Radio 4 Extra seven days after the original broadcast at 7.30am every Monday morning and again at 10pm Monday evening.
This also means we get 14 days to access it on iPlayer as the Radio 4 Extra broadcasts extend the original 7 day allowance by another 7 days. :-)

Actually, it was two months ago that the recordings started for JAM 68:
Wednesday, December 18th 2013 (in my head I was thinking February, January, December but, of course, it's two months as I shouldn't have included the current month!)
The episode that was broadcast last week as Episode 1 was recorded on Sunday, January 12th, Episode 2 was recorded on Wednesday, December 18th, Episode 3 was recorded on Saturday, January 18th.
The fourth and final recording date for Series 68 is this coming Friday, February 21st. Perhaps they will use one of those two recordings for Episode 4 on March 3rd?

I just went back and re-read your write-up of the episode. It looks like they only dropped one subject ("An Irrational Fear").
Incidentally, despite Nicholas redoing his entire wrap-up, listening closely, it still sounds like the "Thanks to the producer and Ian Messiter" bit was stitched on from another recording. Not of great importance but mildly interesting to me.
I did laugh at Paul's "I used to be good at this", and then had a bittersweet moment as I thought about Clement in his later years: certainly not so quick on the draw, but always tremendous value nonetheless.

That's right, James. "An Irrational Fear" was the first subject given to Rebecca. As I remember it, she only lasted a few seconds before being challenged. Of course, by dropping that subject it makes Nicholas's introduction to her second round: "And Rebecca, we're back with you to begin" incorrect as we haven't heard her begin a subject up to that point.
Then there is the confusion at the end when Nicholas was giving out the final scores and he made it sound as if Russell Kane was the winner by being one point ahead of Paul. They've used his second attempt at giving out the scores although he almost messes it up again - you can hear the audience laughing - before he quickly adds "so we say, once again, Paul, you are our winner this week". It's possible they used bits from both takes, though, for the final edit. They've omitted the bit where Nicholas says, "Sorry, what is your name again, darling?" to Trudi, but then Tilusha did say that could be corrected in post-production.
I'm looking forward to hearing the second recording from that evening when one of the players goes for a full minute - I won't tell you the person or the subject but I've got it underlined on my notes from that evening. ;-)
We'll have to wait until next month to hear that one, though...
