Topic: Just a minute on Doctor Who

So, a couple of week's ago, I listened to the Dark Eyes 2 full cast Doctor Who audio boxed set from Big Finish Productions, featuring Paul McGann.

http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/dark-eyes-2-978

It's really rather good.

Interestingly, the opening scene of the second episode, The White Room, features direct references to both Just a Minute and I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.

Figured it was worth sharing, so I've transcribed the scene below:

Tommy: Talk.

The Doctor: Talk?

Tommy: Talk!

The Doctor: In any ordinary situation, I would gladly talk the hooves from a mule.  Or however the expression goes, but with a gun to my head I tend to find I clam up rather.

Tommy: I'm not pointing it at your head.  I'm pointing it at your kneecaps.

The Doctor: Figure of speech, forgive me.  So, as I was saying, without deviation, hesitation or repetition...

Tommy: Count of three, fella.  One..

The Doctor: Not a fan then?  I admit it was never the same without Clement Freud.

Tommy: Two.

The Doctor: Please.  This is hardly conducive to intelligent conversation.

Tommy: Three.  Ahh, well, so it comes...

The Doctor: Mornington Crescent!

Tommy: So!  That's where you come from, is it?  Is it?

The Doctor: Straight down Baker Street and over Regent's Park.  I could take you if you like?  Lovely walk in Autumn.  At least it was before they dug the trenches.

Thanks for sharing this, it's most amusing to hear JAM and Clue references popping up in Doctor Who; one much-loved piece of British culture acknowledging another.  Do you know who wrote this? They must be a fan of fine radio comedy!

That particular episode was written by Alan Barnes, although the overall writer for the story arc was Nicholas Briggs (current voice of the Daleks on TV), so that scene could have been the work of either one, or both of them.

I'm sure they'd answer if asked on Twitter.
