This could be bad news for us International listeners that try to download Radio 4 shows using wma links:

No international streams after 9:30am 01-May-2014

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Let me apologize in advance for a technical posting.  However, it does deal with accessing and downloading our shows.  So I hope this is okay.

So I went to the Beebotron board again and checked the same link as before:

By the way if anyone from the beebatron list is reading this I hope it is okay to "spread the word" because this is a problem that could affect a large number of international listeners - and not just us comedy listeners.

Anyway someone very kindly posted details of how to download wma links for BBC shows for international listeners (I live in South Korea)

I followed the instructions given and this is a summary of what I did:

1 - Go to the BBC program page that you want to download
2 - Right click on that page and select "View Page Source"
3 - Search to for "playlist/" and it sould give you a link that is followed by a code (eg http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/playlist/b041ycyn)
4 - Paste this link with the code in your browser.  It will open as an xml file
5 - Search for "identifier" and copy the code afterwards (eg b041ycyn)
6 - Paste this code to the end of this link "http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/4/mtis/stream/" and open in your browser
(eg http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/4/mtis/stream/b041ycyf)
It will open as an xml file
7 - On this page select the link after "connection href="
(eg http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/4/asx/b041ycyf/stream-nonuk-audio_streaming_wma_low_nonuk)
8 - Download this link (It should be an .asx file)
9 - Open this file in Notepad
10 - You will find two links starting with "mms://wm.bbc.co.uk"
11 - Try and download them as normal

Goodness me that was complicated.  Many thanks to "magic144" for posting how to do that.

At the minute I am still able to get m4a compies of shows using "Get_iPlayer".  However, this seems to be a (complicated) alternative for wma files
